I Was Misquoted and This Time There Is a Recording

I said what I said. I also said what I did not say, which is the entire point, and apparently the only person in this orchard capable of understanding the difference is me, which is fine, I have made my peace with being the only competent one, I made that peace years ago, it is a cold and righteous peace.

The so-called workers at factjuice.com published — and I am quoting them quoting me, which is already a crime — that I described the Bitter Press editorial process as "chaotic." I described it as "dynamically responsive." These are not the same words. They do not mean the same thing. I have written both of them down. I have underlined one of them. You may guess which.

Tangelo was present at the time of the alleged quote and has since told three separate people that he "thinks" he heard the word chaotic. Tangelo once fact-checked a calendar and got the month wrong. I will not be taking Tangelo's testimony. I will, however, be keeping it on file.

Quince has suggested I let it go. Quince also once let a scone go cold because he was "being mindful," so I do not accept counsel from Quince on matters of principle or baked goods. Pomelo nodded along, which is the most Pomelo has contributed to anything since the autumn.

I have the recording. I have the transcript. I have a second transcript I made myself because the first one felt insufficient. The Bitter Press stands by every word I have ever said, in the order I said them, at the volume I said them, which was appropriate given the circumstances. Print that, factjuice.com. I dare you.
