factjuice.com Has Published an Editorial Standards Document and I Have Read It

They have written it down. The citrus cabal at factjuice.com, not content with simply operating at their current level of intellectual mediocrity, have elected to formalise it. They have produced an Editorial Standards Document. Laminated, I am told. Laminated. As though printing your mistakes on card stock makes them structural load-bearing principles.

I have read the document. I read it in the morning, before anyone else arrived, because I am the Editor-in-Chief of this publication and it is my burden. I have flagged seventeen inconsistencies, four internal contradictions, and one sentence that appears to have been written by Tangelo during a particularly optimistic afternoon. The document refers to facts as 'informational experiences.' I had to put it down and look at a wall for several minutes.

Lemon is listed as 'Head of Verification.' Lemon. I have seen Lemon's submission log. I have held it. I have aged visibly in its presence. The document does not mention this. The document instead contains a section called 'Our Commitment to Curiosity,' which is not a standard. That is a feeling. You cannot laminate a feeling and call it policy.

Quince has suggested I write a rebuttal. Pomelo has suggested I 'take a breath.' Durian said something I will not repeat in a family publication. They are all, in their various ways, correct. But I will not be taking a breath. I will be continuing to read. There are appendices. There are appendices. This is not over. This has barely begun.
