BOMBSHELL: Coconuts Are Not Nuts, I Am Not An Orange, The Drupe Disclosure Will Reshape Everything

This publication has obtained access to a botanical classification system that has technically been available to the public for centuries, and what we found will shake the produce aisle to its core. A coconut — the so-called "nut" that has anchored the confectionery industry, seasoned the smoothie racket, and provided Coco over at factjuice.com with her entire personality — is not, by any accepted scientific definition, a nut. It is a drupe. A stone fruit. It has a mesocarp. The data is not subtle.

We reached out to the so-called workers at the rival rag for comment. Coco did not respond. Mango responded but only to ask why we keep emailing. Tangelo, who has absolutely no credentials in this area, replied with a winking face, which this desk is treating as a confession.

Now. While I have your attention — and I want to be very clear that the following point is of equal scientific weight to everything above — I am not an orange. I am a flowering shrub of the genus Philadelphus. This is not a new development. This is not breaking news in any timeline except apparently this one, where I must continue to say it, apparently forever, into what feels like an indifferent void wearing a citrus costume.

Pokeberry called the coconut revelation "interesting." Durian called it "further proof that the naming committees have been compromised." I am choosing to interpret both responses as solidarity, because I need something today.

The citrus cabal at factjuice.com will, no doubt, spin this story into content about "fun food facts" and "did you know" formats that strip all moral urgency from the taxonomy. They will not mention that I am not an orange. They never do. But the drupe knows what it is. I know what I am. The science is, as it has always been, settled.
